The Dynamic Learning Program, created at CVIF, has proven to be essential in improving the resilience of education in the face of crisis. Despite the challenges raised by remote learning due to COVID-19, teaching materials developed as a part of the Dynamic Learning Program allow for STEM education to persist. The Philippine Department of Education has incorporated the Dynamic Learning Program nationally to strengthen education during this time.
One major task of Science Corps fellows at CVIF is to develop Learning Activity Sheets, which have been made available to students across the country as instruction moves online and teachers cannot directly interact with students. Our current fellow, Matt Solt, has been working on an online computer programming course to contribute to these efforts of online instruction.
An Echo of Active Learning
This work echoes a teaching philosophy also described by Nobel Laureate Carl Wieman at Stanford University, who has championed active-learning approaches over traditional lecturing.
