Catching Up with Science Corps Alumni Betsy Melenbrink

In a brief unmasked moment, Science Corps director Eddy Rubin caught up with Science Corps alumni Betsy Melenbrink in Washington, D.C., pausing for a photo together. Betsy served as a Science Corps fellow back in 2019 at Aavishkaar, India, and it was wonderful to reconnect with her and hear how her path has unfolded since then.

Betsy is currently an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow at the US State Department. In this role, she works on technology engagement across several countries, including India — a fitting continuation of the connections she built during her fellowship.

Betsy felt that her Science Corps fellowship was extremely useful to her — a formative experience that has stayed with her well beyond her time in India, and one that continues to shape the work she does today.
